A: Membership fees for CALA are $25 per year. This includes the primary member AND one other family member who resides in the same residence.

Q. Who was the keynote speaker for the 2021 Annual General Meeting?
A. The guest speaker in 2021 was Dr. John P. Smol, Department of Biology, Queen’s University, Kingston . His presentation was recorded and is available on the CALA Youtube Channel via this link “Lakes on a warming planet: Algal blooms and “the longer summer”.
This presentation focused on the importance of using appropriate time scales to assess common lake management issues in southern Ontario. Dr. Smol has noted in his career that the environmental effects of most human activities has been continually underestimated, and that, with the addition of multiple stressors like global warming, we are dealing with far more complex problems than was initially suspected.
